The 2 storey white building, with wooden shutters and original roof tiles, was converted by the original family owners into the Saynamkhan Guesthouse in the late 1980s. Wat Siphoutabang, at the base of Mount Phousi, is directly opposite - the sounds of the monks drumming and chanting are an atmospheric introduction to Luang Prabang. With a wide choice of restaurants, cafes and galleries nearby in several different directions, not to mention as many temples as a visitor could wish for, this is a good base from which to explore Luang Prabang. It takes around 10 minutes to drive from the airport and bus stations.
